VICTORIANS
Note - not dollshouse size
The time of Queen Victoria saw many dramatic changes of fashion for ladies as it became their role to display the prosperity of their household, in contrast to men's wear which became increasingly sober and restrained. Girl's dresses followed fashion, while boys enjoyed rather more comfort.

1832 in the reign of William IV (I know
it says
Victorians, but this group is an in-between and they go better here than elsewhere) The Lady in Outdoor Dress has returned to a classic hourglass figure. Sleeves have ballooned out and bonnets grown to match. £60 The Gentleman wears a frock coat, peg-top trousers and stovepipe hat. £60 The Girl has a dress and bonnet shaped much like the Lady's, but with shorter skirt that shows her pantalettes beneath. £60 |

1845 in the reign of Victoria, Winter Costumes The Lady wears a sleeved, fitted cape over her full skirted dress with a typical poke-bonnet. £49 (One only at £11 off full price) The Gentleman has another variation on the cape and carries a carol sheet, which is why the group is in winter costume. £60 These two dolls have been made without wooden bases and will stand by themselves, like my dollshouse dolls. The Girl wears yet another cape over her dress and a bonnet like the Lady. £60 The Boy wears a short Spencer jacket and holds a snowball. £45 These costumes were copied by 'Dolls House Emporium' for their Autumn 2008 promotion without my prior permission. They did belatedly pay a design fee, but you know where to come if you want the originals. |
