St Louis Blues
This set was inspired by my Father - a life-long fan of vintage jazz. The figures represent Louis Armstrong, Bessie Smith and James P. Johnson in the 1920's. I'm not sure if they ever actually performed together, but this would have been a 'dream team' if they had. The male figures have heads and hands of air-drying clay, whilst Bessie has full limbs and upper torso of clay. They are, as far as my skills will allow, portraits based on old photographs of the artistes, including Bessie's hand embroidered and beaded dress. The overall size of the piece, including the wooden base, is 10 inches high x 15 inches wide x 8 1/2 inches deep. SOLD
