Greensleeves

This pair of dolls was inspired by the lovely 'Variation on Greensleeves' composed by Vaughan-Williams. The figures have head and arms of air-drying clay and are fixed to their purpose-made wooden base and 'stone' bench. Overall dimensions are 11 inches high x 12 1/2 inches wide x 8 inches deep. Their costumes are based on those worn around the time of Henry VII, working on the tradition that the song was originally written by King Henry VIII in his youth. They feature a great deal of hand embroidery and bead work on rich silk fabrics. £230
